What we do


The Edmonton Bicycle Commuters’ Society (EBC) is a registered non-profit society that has been a leader in the Edmonton cycling community since 1980. Our goal is to support the bicycle as a healthy and ecologically-sound mode of everyday urban travel.

Do we sell used bikes? Can you donate old bikes to us? What are our hours? Do we teach you how to repair your bike? Read our FAQ for answers.

History of EBC

In 1980, a group of like-minded, bicycle-commuting enthusiasts decided it was time to band together to encourage and help more people to get around Edmonton by bicycle. On August 1 of that year, the Edmonton Bicycle Commuters’ Society was officially born!

Grainge and Allsopp Memorial Awards

Every year at the Edmonton Bicycle Commuters’ Society annual general meeting (AGM), we award two people with awards recognizing their contribution to the cycling community.

The Dale Allsopp Award is awarded to people for bringing something special to the organisation (innovation, volunteering, energy). The Jack Grainge Award is given to celebrate a life-time commitment to cycling in the broader community.
